Liebster Award

A big thank you to Khullat of Her Crescent Veil for nominating me for the Liebster Award. She’s not only a wonderful writer but an even better human being. Her posts reflect her caring nature and the concern she has for the betterment of society. I really like her piece called “Through My Eyes” which is about the suffering of the poor. I’m grateful to her for being kind enough to nominate me. It feels absolutely amazing to know that she appreciates my work!

I remember being nominated for an award before but didn’t do a post on it due to being busy with uni. So this would be my first time attempting something like this!

Okay so first off, what exactly is it about? Just like every other award on WordPress, the Liebster Award is a way of showing appreciation, connecting with and getting to know one another better. After getting nominated if you choose to accept the award you have to answer some questions given to you by the person who nominated you, share some facts about yourself and then nominate other bloggers who you think deserve the award.

The Rules! (I hope it’s OK if I just copy-paste it from Khullat’s blog lol ๐Ÿ˜€)
– Insert the liebster award logo in your post
– Thank and link those who nominated you
– (After reading the official rules) You also have to reveal 11 interesting facts about yourself! lol
– Answer the questions designated by the blogger who nominated you
– Nominate up to 11 other new bloggers with less than 100 followers
– Ask 11 questions of your own to your nominees that they have to answer
– Notify your nominees about The Liebster Award
– Include instructions of the process in your post

I think it’s okay if you don’t follow all the rules though, like the less-than-100-followers rule. Just pick ALL your favourite blogs!

And now…

Some random facts about me!
1. I love doing da’wah. I want to start doing it professionally someday ุฅู† ุดุงุก ุงู„ู„ู‡. Duas requested.
2. Poetry was something I never understood and never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined writing it. ๐Ÿ˜†
3. Read almost all books of Nancy Drew and the Famous Five as a kid.
4. I absolutely admire and respect people who learn the Noble Quran, do hifdh and tafseer.
5. I really want to be able to speak Arabic fluently insha’Allah.
7. I suck at chemistry and math
8. I was crazy about cars as a kid, growing up in the UAE does that to you.๐Ÿ˜„
9. I can legally drive now ุงู„ุญู…ุฏ ู„ู„ู‡. Once a friend let me drive her car when I didn’t even have my driver’s license ๐Ÿ˜‡
10. I’m a twin ุงู„ุญู…ุฏ ู„ู„ู‡…haha surpriiiise! ๐Ÿ˜Š
11. I prefer flats over heels.

Khullat’s Questions to Me

Why did you start blogging?
I think it’s a great way to share information and even experiences. I blog mainly for da’wah. Because I feel it’s every Muslim’s responsibility to share whatever authentic knowledge they possess. I’ve written on many topics from interfaith, to fundamentals and just recently have started posting poetry.

Where is your happy place? Why is it?
The beach! ๐Ÿ’— I can sit there all day just watching and listening to the sound of waves crashing on to the shore, the clouds gliding across the sky, the cool sea breeze. Everything about it gives me a sense of peace and calm. It’s so relaxing. Masha’Allah.

What 3 words describe you best and explain how they reflect you?
Um well guess I’m “principled” lol, at least that’s what everybody who personally knows me says. I’ve yet to figure out what they mean though. ๐Ÿ˜• The first time my friends told me this was when we were organizing this Islamic event and initially it was supposed to be a girls only event but then somehow the guys stepped in so I decided to opt out in order to avoid any unnecessary interactions. I know it was a li’l extreme but at that time I felt it was the right thing to do.
Friendly- I think I’m a good listener so people find me easy to talk to.
Straightforward- I tell it like it is. If I think someone’s being unfair I just tell it to them. I’ve never intentionally been rude to anyone, Im always polite but people tend to be defensive despite being in the wrong and that kinda screws up everything. Got into trouble many times cause of this. And that’s why mom always tells us to act/speak “with hikma” (wisdom).

Sweet or savoury?
Sweet! I’d prefer donuts over fries, or cake over chips any time of the day! ๐Ÿ˜†

What question do you hate to answer?
When someone asks if we (me and my twin) ever fight. This is like the most annoying question ever! I mean seriously, what siblings don’t fight?

What is your favourite quote?
I’ve got many…but this one from a book I was recently reading is really nice.
Know that part of the inner self is intellectual, the virtue of which is wisdom, the vice of which is ignorance; part of it is elicited, the virtue of which is poignancy, the vice of which is cowardice; part of it is lustful, the virtue of which is chastity and the vice of which is unrestrained hawa (desire). Exhibiting patience in the face of vice is a merit of the inner self by which a person endures both goodness and evil.” – Ibn al-Jawzi, Disciplining the Soul

How do you start a conversation?
Depends on the person I’m talking to.
With Muslims- ุฃุณู„ุงู… ุนู„ูŠูƒู… ูˆุฑุญู…ุฉ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ูˆุจุฑูƒุงุชู‡.
Non muslims- Hey/Hi/hello or simply the person’s name

What cheers you up?
Remembering Allah. It actually makes me more teary if I’m feeling low, thinking about past deeds and reflecting on them makes you realize how insignificant everything in life is and knowing that Allah listens to our duas is the most comforting feeling.
And of course chocolate. Just seeing the fridge stocked with chocolates makes me genuinely happy. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?
Lol today I got up like fifteen minutes before Fajr so the first thought that came to my mind was to stay awake and not go back to sleep lol

If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would you want to have seen?
I’d love to witness the Conquest of Makkah! ุณุจุญุงู† ุงู„ู„ู‡ !! That’d be so cool!

What is better โ€“ a novel or a movie? And Why?
I think novels are more interesting but since I don’t read much except for Islamic stuff I’d prefer watching a 90 min movie instead.

Thank you for the wonderful questions Khullat! I honestly enjoyed answering them!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’•

JazakAllah khayran for nominating me! Alhumdu lillah. . . And Subhanโ€™Allah! The poetry? I’m still a newbie, didn’t ever think i could do *serious* poetry. Until recently always made silly and funny poems about people.

    1. Thank you for your kind words. I think your poetry is amazing Masha’Allah! I’m a newbie myself cause I never really paid attention to it not even in English literature class lol. But I’ve always liked how some poems rhyme.

The rules are simple: all you have to do is share some facts about yourself, answer the questions I’ve asked, nominate other bloggers for the award and prepare a set of questions for your nominees. I’ve explained the rules in detail in this post. You can check them out once again if you want.

Thank you for accepting the award! I look forward to your answers. Jazak Allah khair.

    1. Thanks and Jazak Allah khair for accepting the award!
You don’t have to do a post on it if you think it’s tough but I think you should update your blog more often lol just kidding. ๐Ÿ˜„ Like I mentioned in the post it’s not compulsory to follow all the rules, only that which you’re comfortable with. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you so much for the kind words brother. I think being a twin somehow teaches you compassion ุงู„ุญู…ุฏ ุงู„ู„ู‡ because you’re kinda used to looking out for each other lol…so yeah ุงู„ุญู…ุฏ ุงู„ู„ู‡ I’m very grateful for that. Sometimes I wish I was more caring towards my own soul. We don’t realize this but our soul is the most neglected part of our being. May Allah guide us all. Ameen.
Jazak Allah khair for the beautiful dua. ุญูุธูƒ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ูˆ ุจุงุฑูƒ ุงู„ู„ู‡, May Allah ุณุจุญุงู†ู‡ ูˆ ุชุนุงู„ู‰ preserve you too and bless you. Ameen!

I’m not as great as you think I am. Not even close. May Allah Ta’aala forgive us all, keep us steadfast on His Deen and grant us the opportunity and the ability to do da’wah. Ameen.

I’ve mentioned the rules in the post; anyway here’s what you have to do: share some facts about yourself, answer the questions I’ve asked, pass on this award to other bloggers and ask them your own questions. Also let them know you’ve nominated them and ask them to forward this award. There are no hard and fast rules. Just do whatever you find easy.
      Congratulations! ๐Ÿ™‚

        1. It’s an extremely important event in the history of Islam that took place during the lifetime of the Prophet ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู‘ู… when the Muslims conquered Makkah for the very first time before which it was in the possession of the disbelievers. Have you read the Seerah of the Prophet ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู‘ู…?

          Liked by 1 person

          1. Not exactly…its a shame on me ๐Ÿ˜ฆ but I know major events .. Actually u have followed such blogs which are followers of AHMADI group…so i thought this is with that perspective. Haha

            Liked by 1 person

            1. Ohh now I know why you were confused the other day. I’m sorry. And thank you for clarifying. It has nothing to do with what you’re thinking. The Prophet ุตู„ู‰ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุนู„ูŠู‡ ูˆุณู„ู… said in a hadith that the Muslim Ummah will divide into many sects (groups) and the rightly guided are those who follow him and his companions meaning the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah. Check out this link for more info
I understand what you’re referring to but since I haven’t personally spoken to her regarding this issue, I cannot comment on her beliefs.
But let me give you an example, suppose you have a Hindu or a Christian friend does that mean you agree with their religious viewpoints? It doesn’t, right? Similarly just because a person’s beliefs differ with yours doesn’t mean you should ignore them. Of course you should be careful and confident of your own eeman before you befriend anyone of the other faith or someone with questionable beliefs. But if you think following such a blog negatively affects your eeman then it’s best you unfollow it otherwise you can utilize such opportunities for da’wah. May Allah Ta’aala forgive us for our shortcomings, guide us and keep us steadfast on His Deen. Ameen.
Also no need to feel ashamed about not knowing something. It’s never too late to learn. Besides you already know major events of the Seerah, that’s great Masha’Allah.
