A big thank you to Khullat of Her Crescent Veil for nominating me for the Liebster Award. She’s not only a wonderful writer but an even better human being. Her posts reflect her caring nature and the concern she has for the betterment of society. I really like her piece called “Through My Eyes” which is about the suffering of the poor. I’m grateful to her for being kind enough to nominate me. It feels absolutely amazing to know that she appreciates my work!
I remember being nominated for an award before but didn’t do a post on it due to being busy with uni. So this would be my first time attempting something like this!
Okay so first off, what exactly is it about? Just like every other award on WordPress, the Liebster Award is a way of showing appreciation, connecting with and getting to know one another better. After getting nominated if you choose to accept the award you have to answer some questions given to you by the person who nominated you, share some facts about yourself and then nominate other bloggers who you think deserve the award.
The Rules! (I hope it’s OK if I just copy-paste it from Khullat’s blog lol 😀)
– Insert the liebster award logo in your post
– Thank and link those who nominated you
– (After reading the official rules) You also have to reveal 11 interesting facts about yourself! lol
– Answer the questions designated by the blogger who nominated you
– Nominate up to 11 other new bloggers with less than 100 followers
– Ask 11 questions of your own to your nominees that they have to answer
– Notify your nominees about The Liebster Award
– Include instructions of the process in your post
I think it’s okay if you don’t follow all the rules though, like the less-than-100-followers rule. Just pick ALL your favourite blogs!

Khullat’s Questions to Me
Why did you start blogging?
I think it’s a great way to share information and even experiences. I blog mainly for da’wah. Because I feel it’s every Muslim’s responsibility to share whatever authentic knowledge they possess. I’ve written on many topics from interfaith, to fundamentals and just recently have started posting poetry.
Where is your happy place? Why is it?
The beach! 💗 I can sit there all day just watching and listening to the sound of waves crashing on to the shore, the clouds gliding across the sky, the cool sea breeze. Everything about it gives me a sense of peace and calm. It’s so relaxing. Masha’Allah.
What 3 words describe you best and explain how they reflect you?
Um well guess I’m “principled” lol, at least that’s what everybody who personally knows me says. I’ve yet to figure out what they mean though. 😕 The first time my friends told me this was when we were organizing this Islamic event and initially it was supposed to be a girls only event but then somehow the guys stepped in so I decided to opt out in order to avoid any unnecessary interactions. I know it was a li’l extreme but at that time I felt it was the right thing to do.
Friendly- I think I’m a good listener so people find me easy to talk to.
Straightforward- I tell it like it is. If I think someone’s being unfair I just tell it to them. I’ve never intentionally been rude to anyone, Im always polite but people tend to be defensive despite being in the wrong and that kinda screws up everything. Got into trouble many times cause of this. And that’s why mom always tells us to act/speak “with hikma” (wisdom).
Sweet or savoury?
Sweet! I’d prefer donuts over fries, or cake over chips any time of the day! 😆
What question do you hate to answer?
When someone asks if we (me and my twin) ever fight. This is like the most annoying question ever! I mean seriously, what siblings don’t fight?
What is your favourite quote?
I’ve got many…but this one from a book I was recently reading is really nice.
“Know that part of the inner self is intellectual, the virtue of which is wisdom, the vice of which is ignorance; part of it is elicited, the virtue of which is poignancy, the vice of which is cowardice; part of it is lustful, the virtue of which is chastity and the vice of which is unrestrained hawa (desire). Exhibiting patience in the face of vice is a merit of the inner self by which a person endures both goodness and evil.” – Ibn al-Jawzi, Disciplining the Soul
How do you start a conversation?
Depends on the person I’m talking to.
With Muslims- أسلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته.
Non muslims- Hey/Hi/hello or simply the person’s name
What cheers you up?
Remembering Allah. It actually makes me more teary if I’m feeling low, thinking about past deeds and reflecting on them makes you realize how insignificant everything in life is and knowing that Allah listens to our duas is the most comforting feeling.
And of course chocolate. Just seeing the fridge stocked with chocolates makes me genuinely happy. 😉
What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?
Lol today I got up like fifteen minutes before Fajr so the first thought that came to my mind was to stay awake and not go back to sleep lol
If you could have personally witnessed anything, what would you want to have seen?
I’d love to witness the Conquest of Makkah! سبحان الله !! That’d be so cool!
What is better – a novel or a movie? And Why?
I think novels are more interesting but since I don’t read much except for Islamic stuff I’d prefer watching a 90 min movie instead.
Thank you for the wonderful questions Khullat! I honestly enjoyed answering them!! 😊💕
