Do It Fisabilillah

When you hate a thing
Can’t stand the thought of it
But it’s important you do it
For someone’s benefit
Maybe a loved one
Or someone seeking some love
Be it the Fridays spent
Helping your siblings with their studies
Or Saturdays babysitting your neighbor’s kid
Do it all for the sake of Allah.
Do it fisabilillah.

When people tell you lies
Play with your emotions
Pretend to be good before your eyes
Although you can see through their lies
You don’t want to stoop so low
And treat them the way they treat you
You’re not like them
Good and bad can never be same
So be good to them,
Be good fisabilillah.

When you’re upset, feeling lonely
You think the world doesn’t need you
But know that in the crowd of millions
There will always be a few
Who really do need you
Maybe they haven’t entered your life yet
But they’re praying for a friend, a mate
A brother, sister or a wife like you
So stay strong,
Stay strong fisabilillah.

When it pours day and night
You can’t even go out and enjoy the sun
All you wanted to do was have some fun
But, the rain is fierce and loud
And the Sun’s hidden behind the clouds
Instead of complaining and pulling a long face
Spend some time indoors with family
Bake some goodies and have it with tea
Recite the Qur’an, ponder on its verses
And say Alhumdulillah
Say Alhumdulillah, fisabilillah.

Everything that you do, do it for Allah
You’ve got one life so make it worthwhile
The Prophet said you can do charity even with your smile
Feeding your family, you can make it an act of worship
The love you share and every relationship
You will be rewarded for every good deed of yours
If you keep sure your intention’s pure
Do it for Allah, seeking solely His Pleasure

Every word and every deed; out of love or out of need
Anything and everything you do,
Here’s the deal, do it fisabilillah.

“Say, “Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah , Lord of the worlds.”

[Surah al An’am 6:162]

*Fisabilillah is an Arabic phrase which means “for the sake of Allah”

  1. That is the essence of our life. To live our life only for Allah. That person will do that who recognises his Sole Creator . Ikhlaas is directly linked to eemaan. The stronger the eemaan the purer the ikhlaas. One pious man used to always say : There is no one worthy of attaching yourself to besides Allah. It comes in hadith qudsi Allah says, ‘ O my slave. Look for me .If you find me you have found everything..’ The sweetness of faith is in doing actions only for Allah. The mukhlisoon are the lanterns of hidayah. What a great favour we have been blessed with to be saved from desire for name and fame. The world can say and feel what they want. Allah says,” They who are in their frivolous discussions and actions, playing “. Our greatest treasure is to find out what our Allah wants from us at every given moment and our greatest pleasure is to carry out His Commands Our love for the creation and to serve the creation is only to earn His pleasure . Allah bless you.

    1. Assalamualaikum wr wb
So true, it’s the essence of our life. And that’s why we should strive to make the pleasure of Allah Ta’aala our topmost priority in life. Something most of us know very well is that our “actions are judged by the intentions behind them”. We’ve read it so many times, heard it in khutbahs and seminars yet sometimes we find it difficult to put it into practice. May Allah forgive us and guide us to that which is right and keep us steadfast on His Deen. Ameen.

Ameen and may Allah bless you too. Jazak Allah khair!

    1. Thank you for your kind words. All good comes from Allah. I may have written it well, but the true beauty is in it’s message. I’m grateful that Allah granted me the hidayah to know and share the blessed Deen of Islam. May Allah Ta’aala make us all from those who obey His divine commands with total devotion and forgive all our shortcomings. Ameen.

Ameen to your dua as well and Jazak Allah khair.

P.S: it’s Yusra, not “Yushra” lol

  4. this is probably the hardest thing to do ever…I’m not sure I have done anything really with just pure intentions for the sake of Allah, there always has to be my own agenda somewhere there, conscious or unconscious. Bet hey, practice makes perfect so we just gotta keep trying right?

    1. True that. You know this is exactly why I named my blog “seeking sincerity”. But the funny part is back then, like a couple years back, I was a much better Muslim, I would experience periods of low eeman but that was very rare mostly because I was involved in many Islamic activities both at home and outside and trust me it makes a lot of difference spiritually. But now I know what it means to yearn for that level of faith. Subhan’Allah each day is like a battle with yourself. And that’s why like you said, we must keep trying. May Allah ุณุจุญุงู†ู‡ ูˆ ุชุนุงู„ู‰ help us keep our intentions pure and forgive us for our shortcomings. Ameen. ุฌุฒุงูƒ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุฎูŠุฑุง.

      1. I think that experiencing times of low eeman is actually what builds us… It makes us work hard to get back up and appreciate more times when Eeman is trading high on the spiritual stock market, and help us capitalize on it.
